Dr. Rajiv Mani, Joint Secretary and Legal Adviser is an officer of the Indian Legal Service and is presently working in the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. He is the Group Head presently looking after advisory work of various Ministries of the Government of India including Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Corporate Affairs etc. He is also closely associated in carrying forward the legislative initiatives of the Government of India in strengthening the Ease of Doing Business environment and in the efforts to promote institutional arbitration and making India a hub of International Commercial arbitration and developing an ADR ecosystem that facilitates easy resolution of disputes through minimal Court intervention. He has also dealt with proposals of legislative reforms to facilitate fast track adjudication of Commercial disputes by amendments in the Commercial Courts, Commercial Divisions and Commercial Appellate Division of High Court Act 2015.

Presently, Dr. Mani is also looking after the work of Law Commission of India (LCI) as Joint Secretary in charge of the LCI.

Dr. Mani was member of the Indian delegation which was led by Hon’ble Minister for Law & Justice and Electronics & IT Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, which visited United Kingdom in July 2018. He also represented India at the meeting of the Senior Officials of Law Ministries of Commonwealth Law Ministries 2018 (SOLM) held in October 2018 at Commonwealth Secretariat, Marlborough House, London. He was member of delegation which was led by Dr. Alok Srivastava, Secretary Department of Justice, to participate in Law, Justice and Development (LJD) Week held at World Bank Group, Washington DC in November 2018.

Dr. Mani is a member of Core Committee in connection with implementation of draft rules for reception, retrieval, authentication and preservation of electronic records in Indian Courts which comprises of leading Judges, academicians and technocrats.

Dr. Mani is a Ph. D. in Constitutional law. He was a guest faculty in the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST) and has regularly given lectures on various matters of Constitutional Law and Parliamentary procedures to legislators, foreign participants and also to the newly recruited officers of various services under the Government of India.
